Costa Rica: The Osa Tropical Trek
Rassias Language Programs partners with Kimball Union Academy's Summer Tropical Adventure to Costa Rica's Osa Peninsula.
The Osa Trek is a unique and fresh approach to intensive, Rassias Method language instruction, cultural immersion, and rainforest exploration. The trip combines ecological study, community service, and first hand experience with the challenges facing rural communities in the developing world.
The Osa Peninsula is renowned for its remarkable tropical environments and the efforts of numerous community groups during the past twenty years to preserve its forest and water systems in the face of mounting development pressures.
The program is directed by Eric Russman, a former Peace Corps volunteer and director of a local conservation foundation, and Yesenia Araya Mesen, who is from the Osa Peninsula and has years of experience in eco-lodge administration and managing high school study abroad programs. Eric and Yesenia, together, have been leading student adventures to the Osa Peninsula since 1999.
